RSPCA appoints AMV BBDO as creative agency

Pitch process run by AAR.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has appointed Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO as its retained creative agency following a competitive pitch.

AAR led the process, which began in June and was finalised at the end of July. The & Partnership and BMB also pitched for the account.

The charity has been without a retained agency for several years. It previously worked with AMV BBDO in 2002.

Sam Hawkey, chief executive of AMV BBDO, said: “It feels incredibly good to have the opportunity to work for a great cause, led by exceptional people with an unwavering determination to make powerful behavioural and cultural-changing work. We’re honoured and thrilled to see what we can achieve together.”

Founded in 1824, the RSPCA has a heritage of nearly two centuries of animal rescue work, campaigning and education.

Citing climate change, factory farming, the cost-of-living crisis and war as current threats to animal welfare, the charity said it will focus on staying “relevant in this changing world” and “keeping animal welfare at the top of the public agenda”.

Tracey Pritchard, director of engagement and income generation at RSPCA, said: "The RSPCA has been changing animals' lives for nearly two centuries, but we know there are still huge challenges ahead. The fate of people, animals and our planet is inextricably linked and we can only achieve our vision of a kinder world for animals if we work together.

“We need to get as many people on board as possible to help us continue to change animals' lives now and in the future. We are thrilled to be working with a world-class agency like AMV BBDO, who can help us achieve the very best for animals."
